Room Arranging Made Easy — How To Set Up Your Room With Discount Modern Furniture

If you’ve spent time finding the best discount modern furniture for your home, you want to be sure you are arranging that furniture in a way that best compliments the style. Here’s a brief guide to arranging your room properly.

First, think of how your room will be used. Is it a destination room that people go to, or a pathway to an adjoining room that people go through? Will you be entertaining guests in the room? How do you want the room to feel…cozy and intimate, or spacious and open? If you want cozy, then your furniture will be placed closer together or in small groupings; if you want a wide open feel, then you will want to have more open space between items or between furniture groupings. All of these things must be taken into account before you arrange your discount modern furniture.

Regardless, there are some basic guidelines for arranging your space that will help you get started.

The general recommendation for space between a sofa and side chairs is between 48 and 100 inches. The closer together they are, the more intimate the space will feel.  If you have a coffee table in front of your sofa, a general rule of thumb is to leave between 14 and 18 inches. But of course, you have to take your personal needs into account. If you have short arms or legs, there’s nothing wrong with moving the table closer to the sofa. What’s the point of a coffee table if you can’t reach it?

If you have a television in the room, the basic rule is to take the size of the screen, multiply it by 3, and then use that number of inches to place the seating from the TV. If you have a big screen TV though, this might mean you end up in the hallway! In that case, you will want to experiment with different distances until you find something that is comfortable on the eyes, and leaves room to move around in front of the set.

For the dining room, you want about 20 inches of depth for a dining room chair plus 16 or so inches to push back from the table. Each person needs at least 24 inches for sitting around the table, and to serve you will want to have about 46 inches of space between the table and the wall so you can move about easily.

In the bedroom, you want to leave around 24 inches or more between the wall and the bed in order to be able to get out of bed easily, and at least 36 inches between the foot of your bed and the door to the room.

Your modern discount furniture, when placed correctly, will then become a focal point for your room.
